Krull Boys Bag First Bucks

Both Will and Lane Krull bagged their first bucks and successfully stuffed the family freezer with venison in 2012.

Will shot this "hog" buck with his Hoyt Rampage on October 27. He made an incredible quartering shot at 30 yards and earned a deer of a lifetime.

Lane and John spent the opening afternoon of gun season in the tree stand. Just as the sun was setting this eight-point buck stepped out and Lane earned his stripes as a Big Buck Hunter.

North Dakota 2012 - ROOSTER!

Mike and John had another safe and successful pheasant hunt in North Dakota this fall. We limited out before noon most days and saw hundreds of pheasants some days.

Gage "The Boondocks Bandit" successfully completed his fourth pheasant season. Gage is known in the grouse woods as the "workman" and he definitely lives up to that handle when hunting pheasants.

One our our favorite places is the Hague Cafe. The cafe is owned by the town and staffed by local housewives. They make a mean ham and cheese omelet and are known for their Thursday lunch special: chicken or sausage strudel. Be prepared for a long nap if you order it.

John adopted the neighbors farm dog "Gunner" and he helped bag our limits. Gunner is part lab and part jackrabbit.

Mike poses with some big ol' NoDak roosters after a good morning of shooting.

Hunting in North Dakota means at least two nights at the Quencher. Cold beer and a little David Allen Coe on the juke box. Yee hah.

Time seems to stand still while we're on our annual hunting trips. God bless America.

Saturday Morning Hunt Club

Will took advantage of a OSC Open Shooting Saturday to do a little "Hunt Club" action. The good news: He shot amazingly. The bad news: He wants my gun.

The Hunter's League Begins

Stu has organized a great Hunter's League again this year. Six weeks of blasting clay pigeons and pounding arrows into unsuspecting paper and 3D animal targets.  Oh yeah.

The first challenge is shotgun shooting in a sporting clay format. You shoot 25 shells in various stations including a duck blind and a walking shot.

The second challenge is 25 arrows in the archery room. You shoot at targets while sitting, standing on a log and the finale is shooting at a moving deer target. Good times.

2012 Steak Feed = Success

The Local 505 had a strong showing at the 2012 Steak Feed. John, Shawn and Mike enjoyed good meals and cold beverages.

The Club had a really good turnout and the members and guests really enjoyed the new patios and club improvements.

Steve and Brent did a great job preparing the food.

Hot potatoes.

Harps was a big winner bringing home Mole Traps and Mole Poison. He also won several boxes of Winchester shotgun shells.

OSC Rennovations

The new landscaping and patio are almost complete. The light poles shipped today so we should be ready for some fall hunt club shoots soon. I think the UCB Local 505 should have a fall family party on the new patio with a big fire pit and a few cocktails.

2012 AA Grand Totals

The 2012 trap season is officially over and the Champions have been crowned. This blogger is going through spread sheet withdrawal so here's one more chart to wrap up the year. The S/S Boys didn't win the 6 or 12 week title but they did break the most targets. They were very consistent by breaking 1270 and 1278.

THERE'S WORK TO BE DONE IN 2013. LET'S GO 505!

2012 AA Shoot Out - A Champion is Crowned

I would like to say the 2012 AA Championship shoot out between the United Clay Busters • Local 505 and the Sports Products shooters was a close contest but it wasn't. Sports Products easily won the shoot out and they deserve the championship. They are a great group of guys and shot very well as a team.

Congratulations to the Sports Products trap team. They are the 2012 Oregon Sportsman's Club AA Champions. Great shooting gentelmen.

The United Clay Busters bring home the second place title and with it a lot of good times with their shotguns.

Congratulations to Kent Marshall. Kent won the Oregon Sportsman's Club Top Trap Shooter award for 2012. It was great to see Kent out at the club again this year. Nice shooting and congrats on the well deserved title.

As a famous cartoon pig once said, "That's all folks!"

AA Shootout - August 27 - 6:30pm

The OSC AA Trap Championship Fight Card reads: The United Clay Busters of America vs Sports Products. The Mike Kriefski lead Local 505 takes on the scrappy Sports Products shooters lead by Stu Cameron. This rumble in the Hook Lake swamp takes place Monday, August 27 at 6:30pm. A rendition of the National Anthem and a spectacular fireworks show immediately follows the championship awards ceremony.

Week 12 - Cue Up the Fat Lady

Shawn and John were the only Local 505 members on the line to close out the final week of league shooting. Mike, Alex and Curt were away on business. Congrats to Mike as he won the UCB Local 505 Top Gun title. This is Mike's fifth title in eight years of shooting

The Local 505 is in a shootout with the Sports Products team for the all-around AA Championship. Hoping to have the title wrapped up early next week.

Shawn, Cale and Jeff relax with some cold beer and cold peanuts

Week 11 - Sharpening the Swords

The Local 505 had a great night on the line in Week 11 as they started to shoot in championship form once again. Alex and Mike were co-Top Guns this week but the entire team posted solid scores. Curt was MIA as he was taking care of a little business.

The UCB Local 505 is considering implementing a dress code in 2013 after Alex wore his "Party Pants" to the club. Alex has really pushed the limits of trap line fashion this season. Scroll back to Tuesday, June 19, 2012: Week 4 – The Fashion Recall article.

With one week left to shoot in the AA Second Half Championship Chase, Stu's Sports Products team leads the S/S Boys by six birds. Our shoot off opponent will be determined next Monday night.

Harps brought his AA game to the club in Week 11. Shawn and his shiny Beretta kicked ass and took no prisoners as he posted his highest non-bank score of the season.

Local 505 Represents at Clays Event

The Oregon Sportsman's Club held their final sporting clay event of the year and Shawn and John from the United Clay Busters of America had a blast shooting it. Nacho constructed a challenging course that even featured two rabbits being thrown straight up in the air and directly into the sun. Looking forward to shooting these events again next year. Nice job KMH and congrats on the big turnout.

Week 10 - Two Laps to Go

Alex and John were the only Local 505 members shooting in Week 10. Mike and Shawn were working overtime tonight and Curt was on vacation. Alex and John made quick work of their rounds and posted scores well above their averages. John was this weeks Top Gun.

The United Clay Busters of America had a special guest score keeper in Week 10. Say hello to Lane – aka: Mr. Lucky Charm. The Local 505 is buying Lane a V.I.P. ticket to their upcoming shootout.

Week 8 – Which end of the gun does the shell go in?

Not much to say about the Local 505's performance in Week 8. Good weather. Good light. Not good scores. Alex was M.I.A. as he is on "vacation" in Vegas. John eked out a team top gun award.

Mike just learned that Sports Products is a mere 41 birds ahead of the UCB in the second half champion chase. The Local 505 will be holding it's first ever "Pride Camp" in early August to reunite the team. I can already smell the perch frying for the shoot off. There will be a fish fry – correct?

Not seeing the light

Wondering why the birds were gliding into the darkness last week? Look at where these lights are aimed. Nothing a little bailing wire and duct tape won't fix.

Week 7 - Happy Birthday Harps

The Local 505 jumped out to a very slow start in week seven in terms of our team score. Mike lead the team in shooting earning him a well deserved Week 7 Top Gun Award. It was nice to have the entire team together for a change of pace.

Even though we shot a low team score we made up for it in the post shooting snack arena. Smoked pork, Wisconsin Gouda, fresh bread, frozen pizzas, dog dishes full of shelled peanuts and $2 cold beers made for some good Local 505 camaraderie.

We broke the cards out for the first time in 2012 for a little hot 500 action. Curt and John swept the table taking three-out-of-three games. John and Curt declared and won in both games two and three. Impressive card play partner.

UCB First Half Champs

It's official, the United Clay Busters of America • Local 505 are the OSC first half trap champions. They came from behind and lead Signature Construction by just one bird going into the final night of shooting. This blogger's sources discovered Sig Cont. contemplated "banking out" in order to win the first half but didn't feel they had enough points to pull it off. For future reference, if there's a tie for the week six champion a shootout will be held to determine the winner. This all creates a lot of excitement for the next six weeks of shooting.

OSC Sporting Clay Event

A hot July day did not keep the shooters away. The OSC had a great turnout for their sporting clay event.

Kevin and John had a nice discussion about the first half trap championship.

Ron Peterson sends off the first of a report pair.

Band of Brothers.

Steve D'Orazio and crew. Steve's daughter was attempting her first round of sporting clays. Confidence level: very high.
