The Polar Vortex - NoDak 2014

The polar vortex dropped in our 5th annual North Dakota pheasant hunt which made for extremely cold temperatures, high winds, and a very rich target area.

Slicin' Hogs Daddy

The OSC Pig Roast Banquet was a success last night and this feels like an appropriate image to wrap up the 2014 UCB blog writing. Keep those guns lubed and your barrels swinging Local 505. Only 271 days until the first 2015 bank night. #Three-Peat

A Message from team Sports Products (Currently in 2nd Place)

Congratulations to you and your team for the excellent season put forth.

During an informal meeting held at OSC last night your team standing was discussed and it was decided by vote of all present that United Clay Busters are not eligible to win the Class AA Club Championship and should not have won last year due to a little known rule that at least one member of the winning team must be at least 65 years old. Your team is now listed as winning the Class A Championship. Congratulations. Well done.

Knowing that information your team can slack off and enjoy the evening tonight without any pressure to shoot well. You might even consider trying shooting opposite handed tonight. (Right handed shooters shoot left handed and left handed shooters shoot right handed.) Should be a fun event.

Sincerely,
Ron Rebman

10 Great Years

As the 2014 trap season enters it's final week, we reflect on 10 great years of trap shooting by the United Clay Buster's of America - Local 505 chapter. On May 17, 2005 team "Smooth" (inaugural name) walked up to line and shot 125 out of 250 birds. A horrible score but you wouldn't have known it by the smiles on everyone's face. Big thanks to Mike and Shawn for deciding to field a trap team.

One week and 250 birds will determine the 2014 AA Champions.

John and the SigConst Singers

John will be traveling on business next week so he shot his makeup score tonight. Team Signature Construction, who cut the UCB lead in half this week, was nice enough to watch John shoot to ensure everything was legal and legitimate. Big thanks to Benny for scoring. #15BirdLead

Week 10 - The Fat Lady Isn't Singing

The Local 505 came in to Week 10 a little full of themseleves after pounding out four concecutive weeks of big team scores and once again they were humbled by the almightly trap house. Not the end of the world - just slightly bruised egos. John & Mike were co-Top Guns. #TwoMoreWeeks.

Week 9 - Stoking the Fire

The skies parted and the thunderstorm stopped just in time for the Local 505 to take the field in Week 9. The boys poured the coals on the fire and pounded out another big score. Big props to Jeff for shooting seven birds over his average and posting his highest score of 2014.

Alex was M.I.A. due to a third straight week of business travel. A motion was made by the team to make it mandatory that Alex always shoots on Thursdays by himself after he ripped a 50 last week. He'll now be in the Thursday night Local 506 Chapter.

John was the team Top Gun in week nine. Only three weeks remain in the 2014 season.

Unofficial 2014 Top Gun Chase

There are four weeks and 200 birds left in the 2014 trap season. John Klus leads all shooters and has a hot gun as he crushed a 50 last week. Ricky Phillips should be on the chart but I'm missing his week six score. Super proud that the United Clay Busters of America have three shooters in the top six. #Booyah

Hot Blog Action

Jeff and Shawn wandered out to club on a beautiful Thursday night and got their 12 gauges going. Jeff went to the Church of Trap® and worked out some kinks. Harps stomped out a great bank score which is likely his highest score in his 10 year shooting career. Bravo Local 505.

Team Signature Construction had a wet dream that they shot a 249 and tied the United Clay Busters for the first half AA title. Nice try KMH and thanks for playing.

Week 6 - AA Winners

It's official. The United Clay Busters of America have won the AA Week 6 title. They beat the hard-charging SS Boys by a mere eight birds and have secured their shot at the 2014 championship. Congrats Local 505 – keep swinging those hammers for the next six weeks. #NoShootOffs

Popeye the Trap Shooting Man

I don't think spinach is a banned substance in the trap shooting rule book.

Week 5 - WTF?

The Local 505 shot in the prime 8:30pm slot in Week 5 and by all accounts felt it would be a cake walk. Well, the trap Gods quickly put them in their place. #ShouldaCouldaWoulda

Shawn and John were the Week 5 co-Top Guns.

And it was Shawn "ewo" Harper's first weekly Top Gun in 10 years. Shawn was also the only team member to shoot over his average. Congrats Harps and keep hammering them. UPDATE: Jeff also shot above his average. Sorry Szpak for the misprint.

Week 4 - We Want More

Shawn brought his 2013 AA Championship hat to the party tonight. He crushed his average and posted a great score. #GoHarpsGo
A three-way tie for team Top Gun highlighted week four. Alex, John, and Mike hit the birds hard but the SS Boys are breathing down their necks in Class AA. Two weeks to decide the first half champions.

Week Three: Doing What It Takes

The Local 505 has posted bigger scores and a heck of a lot worse scores. Once again in week three the team shot a decent average and put birds on the competition. Alex was out on business. Jeff and Shawn are taking care of business. #Winning

John was the team Top Gun in week three.

Week Two: Meat Left on the Bone

The Local 505 shot a solid team score but are confident they can sharpen their aim. John was the Week Two Top Gun. #BigBoyPants

Alex is all smiles because he just shot two fantastic rounds of trap. He really helped the team average tonight and special thanks for the tasty suds Mr. Schmalz.

Mike penciling in hits and misses for team JC Electric.

The renovations to the club are so nice. This is how we roll folks.
