Your 2015 AA Class Champions

The Local 505 shot their final week of trap in 2015 and locked up their 3rd consecutive AA Class Championship. Job well done gentlemen. Congrats as well to our "pals" on Signature Construction who made the second half of the season very interesting and finished in second place. A big thank you to Kevin and Kris Hermanson for stepping up and running an incredibly smooth trap league.

A Local 505 hurrah goes to Mike on an outstanding trap season. Mike won the Local 505 team Top Gun award for the 7th time in 11 years. He set a new team scoring record and won the OSC Top Shooter of 2015 award. Mike is shown here with the infamous L. Wilcox team trophy. Nice work Captain.

The 2015 trap season was a lot of fun. Winning our third AA Class championship is pretty exciting. Adding a new team member who is handy with the steel was awesome. But loosing our good friend Stu Cameron was and is really painful. 11 years ago in May, Stu welcomed us to the club with a big smile, a firm handshake, and followed it up with a contagious belly laugh. Stu Cameron is dearly missed but not forgotten.

Week 12 - Rain Out

Mother Nature put the AA Class championship and the L. Wilcox Trophy presentation on hold. Thankful for the much needed rain though. Stay tuned for a makeup date.

2015 Season Winding Down

The Local 505 is entering into the final week of the 2015 trap season with a 29 bird lead on Signature Construction. This equates to a likely third consecutive AA Class Championship. Mike has a commanding lead on the 2015 OSC Top Gun award. John is currently in third 10 birds back.

The Local 505 shoots Tuesday night at 6:30pm. Tasty Pizza Pit pizza, cold beverages, and general brewhaha will commence shortly there after.

Wonder Twin Powers Activate!

Alex and Shawn held the line in week 11 as Mike, John, and Jared made sizable withdrawals from their bank accounts. Harps was TG. Only one week remains to determine the second half Class AA Champion. U.C.B. Huh! U.C.B. Huh!  U.C.B. Huh!

OSC Sporting Clays

A record 186 shooters participated in the Oregon Sportsman's Club's Sporting Clay Shoot and Factory Firearms Day on August 8, 2015. This event was sponsored by Max Creek Outdoors and reps from Browning and Benelli were on hand with a wide assortment of shotguns that were available for test shooting and Max Creek provide a free lunch to all guests. A big thank you to Kevin Hermanson and his legion of volunteers for putting on such great sporting clay shoots and keeping our club strong.

Local 505 member, Jared Hook, on his way to making hay as he was a money winner again in the final shoot of the season.

Kevin seems to be coping with the stress of the Class AA championship chase quite well.

Week 10 - Special Guest Night

The Hook family made a special appearance to cheer on Jared and the Local 505 this week. It was great to see the entire family enjoying a night at the club.

A couple of members from Signature Construction were suspiciously prowling around the club tonight. The Local 505 posted a good team score and put the pressure the rest of class AA to keep up. John was TG and is pictured above with his "pal" Kevin - aka KMH.

Harps was M.I.A. in week 10 as he was on location sweating his you know whats off.

One Bird Lead

The United Clay Busters of America, Local 505 chapter leads team Signature Construction by one bird in the Class AA second half title chase. Between the two teams, 1,500 shots have been fired in the second half of the season and the next 1,500 shots will determine if the Local 505 wins Class AA outright or if Signature Construction can force a championship shoot off. #I'mLovingIt

Week 9 - The Blue Light Special

The Local 505 were down two men this week as Jared and Alex are on vacation. Mike continues his club championship roll with some incredibly consistent shooting. MK was TG in week nine. Harps posted a great score which was above his average as well. It's currently a two-horse race for the second half AA title between the Local 505 and Signature Construction. Stay tuned folks.

The "New Guy" Fitting in Well

The Local 505 welcomed Jared Hook to the team this spring as Jeff accepted a new job and moved to Minnesota. When we told Stu that Jared was joining our squad it was obvious we'd made a good choice. Stu slowly smirked and gave us that look like, "you sons of bitches." Yes sir, another hard hitting clay buster on the line who's handy with a gun and driven for greatness. Thanks for pulling for the Union Jared.

Week 8 Was Delicous

Yes the Local 505 had a blast shooting trap tonight. Yes we posted our biggest team score of the year without someone using a bank score. Yes Mike is leading the club's top gun chase and John is second. Yes Alex posted his highest score of the season. But the real story is Bob and Cathi Fisher treated the Tuesday night shooters to a walleye, smoked salmon, and homemade potato salad dinner. Bob is such a good fisherman he needed to make room in his freezer so he could go catch more walleyes. A big UCB thank you to the Fisher's for such a delicious club dinner.

Alex put in some hard work and posted his biggest non-bank score of the season. Nice shooting Schmalz.

Mike is on his AA game and crushing the targets and the competition. He currently leads the club's top gun chase and if he can hold on, he would be the first Local 505 team member to win the title. MK was TG.

The Harpinator

Shawn is having a career year on the Local 505 and is one of the top 10 shooters at the Oregon Sportsman's Club this season. Shawn is a founding member of the United Clay Busters of America and credits routinely practicing the mount of his gun as the x-factor to his higher scores. Keep up the great work Harps.

Week 7 - The Road to Glory

The United Clay Busters kicked off the second half of the season with a decent score. It didn't feel great to the team but it was still 10 birds over the second place team's average – but who's counting. Alex was M.I.A. as he's in Boston on business. JK was TG.

Special thanks to Harps for hooking up the Local 505 with delicious naturally smoked Oscar Mayer center cut bacon. You missed a hell of a night to be gone Schmalzy.

Class AA - 1st Half Champions

The Local 505 crushed the competition in the first half of the season. These five teams reset to zero this week as they shoot for the second half Class AA title.

League action resumes in seven days.

Week 6 - UCB Wins 1st Half AA Title

Congrats to the Local 505 on winning the first half AA title. This secures them a shot at their third AA championship. Mike lead the team with rock solid score and earned himself the week six top gun award. Shawn was M.I.A. due to a client dinner.

Next week is a league bye week. The second half chase to the championship begins on July 14.

UCB Week 5 - Welcome to Pound Town

It didn't feel like the Local 505 brought their AA game this week but when the smoke cleared the score sheet told a different story. The UCB is shooting at a record pace in 2015 and have the first half title easily locked up. Jared shot his career high as a United Clay Busters as he's getting this trap game figured out. Mike and his SKB danced the tango tonight and came up just one bird shy of a perfect score. MK was TG.

Shooting in style. Looking sharp Alex.

Working Overtime

A Local 505 member was designing shotgun shell packaging in his basement this evening when it became evident he needed some inspiration. 50 rounds from the 23 yard line proved to do the trick. And for what it's worth, the United Clay Busters of America, unofficially, have a 54 bird lead in Class AA. Repeat, a 54 bird lead. #Boom

Week 4 - We Want More

The Local 505 made quick work of week four and didn't even get the opportunity to share in a post shooting adult beverage due to early morning business travel. Shawn was M.I.A. but withdrew a nice score from the bank. Another rock solid team score with just two weeks to claim the first half title. JK was TG.

Special thanks to Scot Stewart for scoring this week. Scot is a good friend of the 505 and we're bummed we don't shoot before the Sorry Shooters this season.

Jared Hook Wins OSC Sporting Clay Shoot

Local 505 team member, Jared Hook, won the Oregon Sportsman's Club sporting clay shoot today. Jared shot 49 out of 50 birds to lead all 150 shooters. Congrats Jared and way to represent the United Clay Busters of America.

Kevin Hermanson, OSC Trap & Sporting Clays Director, presents Jared with his prize money. Kevin can hold his head high as he shot a 45 out of 50 with a .410 shotgun.

Special thanks to Kris and Kevin for putting on a great event and for running the trap league this year.

Week Three: Hello Handicap Yardage.

Week three of our 2015 season started with Alex getting out of the proverbial trap team doghouse. You see, Alex drove home a couple of weeks ago and left his Browning in the gun rack at the club. He learned the "you never leave a man behind" lesson the hard way as Captain Mike picked up the gun and kept it locked in his gun safe.  The reunion is captured in the photo above.

The Local 505 basking in the after shooting euphoria. They murdered the pigeons from the 16 yard line and were handicapped to the 24 yard line in the second round which proved to be a bit of an equalizer. They still posted a rock solid team score. #NoShootOff

Alex and Mike were the week three co-top guns. Nice shooting gentlemen and way to dial in on the handicap round.

A big thank you to Kurt Steinhorst for taking the Local 505 team photo this week. You can follow Kurt's hunting escapades on the Steiny Outdoors Facebook page.

Week 2 - Big Score

A beautiful June evening ended with smoking gun barrels and a monster team score on the clip board. The Local 505 have generally been slow starters but are surprisingly in late season stride in week two. Alex was M.I.A. and Shawn and his Beretta are in sync and doing some serious work. Jared is confident we left some meat on the bone this week and can post a bigger numbers this season. John was the week two team Top Gun. Special thanks KMH for scoring. #I'mLovingIt

Thursday Funday

John and Shawn took advantage of a holiday bye week and did some serious work on their bank scores. Basically if it flied it died. Good times Harps.

John got the opportunity to watch team Signature Construction do work tonight. Note to Local 505: these boys are serious contenders for championship hats in 2015. Say hello to Chuck, Kevin, Kent, John, and Benny. #GoodFellas

Meet Kevin, AKA The Speaker Scalper. Kev is running the trap league this year (THANK YOU VERY MUCH) and he's been battling the voice activated speakers lately. He's shown here with his latest victim.

The Signature Ladies + John

Kelly and Kris from the Signature Ladies + Nacho were kind enough to let the Director of Communications from the United Clay Busters of America practice with them this week. Thank you ladies and very nice shooting. Nacho is a lucky man. #AAChampionshipHat #JustSaying

Week 1 2015 - AA In Our Sights

The Local 505 officially kicked off the 2015 season with some damn fine shooting. The United Clay Busters have historically been slow starters but their week one score crushed their previous two championship season's week one scores. Mike was the top gun and is looking to get his named etched on the legendary L. Wilcox team trophy. John was M.I.A. due to business travel.

Aguila Range Day

Aguila Ammunition hosted a couple members of the Local 505 at the Gun Emporium in Conroe, Texas yesterday. Christmas came early this year.
Say hello to our little friend, the Springfield Arms HCAR 30.06. It's being tested in the military and and it's use would be similar to the BAR. This is the coolest gun this blogger has ever shot. Mental note: buy lottery tickets.

Alex is doing work with a Marine sniper 3.08. Aguila described it as a "nail pounder." This is a serious weapon folks.

Nothing like making sod fly off the dirt berm with an AK-47 and a 75 round magazine.

This Ruger .22 was a sweet gun especially with Aguila's Colibri silent rounds. Alex is in love with this .45 cal cowboy rifle as it was very smooth and accurate. I expect him to buy a horse and cowboy boots very soon.

A big thank you to Aguila for their hospitality. There were way to many guns to list in this blog post. Amazing afternoon and very appreciated.
